Great shot, the Heron is almost camouflaged by those rocks!
You know Kieran, your right. I think this was done on purpose on her part. She did not move for a long time, which leaves me to believe that she was trying to hide in plain sight.
Beautiful. But how do you determine the gender?
Thanks VK, That’s easy. The female doesn’t have the small plume on the back of her head.
Great Shoot Lionel… 🙂
Thank you Didex my friend.
Spiderpaw this is beautiful. She is stunning and almost match the rocks.
You must have so much fun, hunting for shots. Herons are so still when they hide. Youve got a good eye.
I loved this picture. We have herons that live behind our house and I never knew how to tell their gender! Thank you for that! I love the way you have captured her with the background that is so beautiful.
Thank you so much Robin. I must admit they kind of freak me out up close.
This Heron looks rather annoyed but what
a truly fangtastic photograph you have taken 🙂
You are right Andro. I followed this heron around for a while when all she wanted to do was eat. Thanks.
